SNOW!!!!! .........for about an hour
well, it was raining all day yesterday and into the night and was pretty cold, so i got to class about 6:15 and it was still raining and then towards the end of our first class some people said that their friends text them telling them it was snowing outside, but it was still dark so we couldn't see anything. but at the break we all went outside and it was actually snowing, and it was actual snow, but snow flakes, but within an hour it had stopped, but it was still pretty cool and kept me entertained during class for a little bit. didn't have a camera with me and didn't feel like taking a picture with my phone since i figured everyone has seen what snow looks like....well, except for this guy in our class from puerto rico, who was outside running around in it because it was the first time he had seen snow in real life. back to studying.

i guess sometimes the only way to humble someone is when they've just fallen flat on their face
Well, school has been rough as usual with a bunch of tests, for some reason this trimester has been a lot harder. my attitude towards school has not been the best and it makes studying and retaining any material harder, of course having 13 tests in two weeks doesn't help either. but i just finished taking a physio2 test from the same teacher that taught me biochem which i struggled with last trimester. this time she had 20 out of 50 questions fill in the blank and needless to say i absolutely bombed it. i'm frustrated with her for how she tests us knowing that we are here to be chiropractors not cardiologists and that we have tons of tests each week. i haven't talked to anyone else but i'm sure there were a lot of people that failed it. she never grades on a curve or gives points back and she is the only teacher that uses fill in the blank with no type of word bank or anything.
so.....looks like this is the class that i am going to be studying for the next month, failing this class is not going to be an option nor a comforting thought to have to be on special schedule. so wish me luck......cause i'm definitely going to need it.

Vegeterian Halloween.

Well since I'm on a detox that only let's me eat veggies and fruit (and since I had been studying for probably 5 hours and was going crazy) I was making my salad and decided to make a jackolantern out of a bell pepper. I didn't have a little candle or else I would have put that in there too.
I just bought a ticket back home for Christmas break so I'll be there from the 17th of December till the 8th of January.

update on detox
well, to sum it up shortly.....CHEATING IS BAD.... i had done really well for the first 8 days or so and i came home from the gym and was going to take a 1 hour nap that ended up being almost 5 hours and i was pretty tired still but have a test and a practical tomorrow to study for so i compromised and decided to get some caffeine to help me stay awake to study.
well, while i went to the gas station i crossed by a taco bell, and of course i had to stop in. i don't feel bad for having a cheat day, i had done everything well and deserved a little reward, but after the two 1/2 lb cheesy bean and rice burrito and the energy drink ( if i'm gonna get caffeine i'm gonna go all the way) and it did taste really really good to eat everything, but here i am about 4 hours later and i feel like i'm about to give birth to twins. and while my stomach didn't really feel the best in the early stages of this detox (mind you it hasn't felt good for many many years, not sure if it was from tonga but i'm pretty sure it was even before then) but the past couple of days my stomach didn't hurt as much nor did it have a gassy feeling to it. it was actually kinda nice to not feel like that anymore.
so it was good to see how my body would react to adding back in "normal food for every fat american" and it definetly (again help with the spelling) has a big effect on it. so i think i might be giving up caffeine sodas for good......hopefully. the alternative is that i have been drinking a lot more power aide and gatoraide, usually tried to get poweaide zero that doesn't have any calories and a lot less sugar, but i've gotten into the habit of drinking a lot of water with this detox so hopefully that will also carry over.
so to anyone that has thought about doing this (mind you it's probably easier for me to do this because i don't have a spouse or kids that might not be doing it and would be eating normal food) and feel like they have any type of stomach problems ide say try it. there are a lot of supplements that i take with this and a powder shake, but honestly you could just do the raw veggies and fruit and you'd probably notice a change. it'll take a couple of days, but you should feel better. i'm going to start adding protein into my diet tomorrow so hopefully that will help out with the lack of energy (and only getting 2 hours of sleep last night doesn't help either) and help curb the boredness of eating the same thing every day, which has consisted of vegetable stew, salad, shake, or a little brown rice and some fruit.
well, i need to get back to studying seeing as how it is midnight and i still have a LOT of studying to do, probably won't get to bed till around 4 if i do get some sleep. oh well, it's what ya gotta do sometimes and better to sacrifice now and see the reward later than look back and regret not putting as much effort into it. i'll update this after a couple of days of eating some protein like chicken and fish to see how i'm feeling.

Life lesson #67. Detoxes SUCK!!!
So a couple of days ago i started a 21day detox cleanse that is put out by Standard Process. They are a supplement/vitamin company that pumps a ton of money into our school (just gave us 1mill to redo the activity center) and a bunch of people in my class started it as well and i had wanted to do one cause we did our class report on this detox diet for biochem last tri.
So far.....it's pretty much sucked. For the first 10 days you can only eat vegies and fruits. and you are supposed to eat twice as much veggies as fruit, and should try to eat atleast 1/2 raw. Can't have anything else other than a handful of veggies and fruits they have listed and have to drink a ton of water and take a bunch of their supplements (think i take between 30-39 pills each day plus 2-3 shakes)....and the kicker for me........NO SODAS OR CAFFEINE!!!!
Honestly the thing that i miss most right now is energy. i haven't worked out in almost a week (ive been kinda sick with a cough and headache as weel) and so i haven't been into the gym. i come home and take a nap and they try to study for a little bit. Hopefully this may help me figure out what is wrong with my GI tact cause ever since Tonga and even before, ive always had stomach problems and pain. plus i did drink a lot of energy drinks at the end of last trimester, so it's been good to get off of all of that stuff. Oh yeh..on day 11 you can add protein like chicken and fish but only 4-6oz twice a day i think? I'll have to let you guys know if i have any "life changing experiences" (probably won't) but i mostly did it just to say that i have done one and if a patient asks me about one i won't be ignorant.
Well, i gotta get to studying. have a public health/microbiology 2 test that is going to absolutely punish me tomorrow.

There's a new girl in my life!!!

-- Post From My iPhone

Her name is Daisy. No she isn't mine. My friend got her a couple of weeks ago and I'm watching her for a couple days while him and his wife are out of town.
She is a "bug" a boxer/pug mix. She's a typical puppy barking at every little thing and chewing on anything she can. Makes me wish I had a dog right now but I don't have the space or time for one.
